If you are bothered by darker, coarse hair, you may want to consider laser hair removal. The LightSheer DUET from Lumenis uses diode lasers with vacuum-assist technology to remove unwanted hair. This laser technology allows patients to have quicker and less painful treatments. The LightSheer DUET is indicated for all skin types.

How many treatments will I need?

Lasers work best when hair is in the early growth stage. All of the hairs in a treatment area are not in this phase at the same time so removal takes multiple treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Three to five treatments are typically needed to see desired results.

How does the Laser work?

This laser produces a larger beam of highly concentrated light. The light produced is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles. During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, allowing the hair to absorb the light and heat up. As it heats up, the hair shaft and bulb are damaged which significantly hampers its ability to re-grow. And with the large spot size, the process treats numerous hair follicles simultaneously, making the treatment much faster than traditional laser hair removal. The LightSheer High Speed handpiece uses breakthrough vacuum assisted technology in combination with diode laser light to allow quick and comfortable treatment of large areas. The LightSheer ET handpiece with ChillTip cooling is used for smaller treatment areas. Treatments are typically 50-75% faster than average treatment times for other lasers on the market.

Is there downtime with this Laser?

Patients may have some redness and swelling in the area treated for several hours after treatment. It is usually mild and resolves itself quickly. Patients may also feel some tenderness after treatment depending on the area treated. Side effects are rare and if they do occur, are usually minor. Most patients return to normal activity right after their treatments.
