Dysport Cosmetic

Dysport is a newly approved Botox ® alternative. This new wrinkle relaxer is approved to treat forehead wrinkles and frown lines in the U.S. Dysport is used to treat active muscle movement. Once Dysport is injected, two to three days post injection the muscles decrease in activity thereby preventing the appearance of "dynamic" wrinkles that are caused by repeated facial expressions. Because the muscle is immobilized the underlying cause of the unwanted lines or muscle can no longer make the offending facial expression. The appearance of the lines gradually smooth out from disuse and new creases are prevented from forming. The most commonly treated areas are the crows feet, the lines between the eyebrows and horizontal forehead lines. Initial reports suggest that Dysport may act quicker than Botox ®. Botox ® takes three to five days to work, while Dysport seems to work within one to two days. In some cases, wrinkles begin to fade as soon as 24 hours after receiving Dysport treatment. Potential side effects of Dysport are similar to those associated with Botox ® treatment.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX ® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical procedure that can dramatically reduce wrinkles within 7-10 days. Since the procedure is non-surgical, no recovery time is needed. BOTOX ® relaxes the muscles between your brows that cause lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to four months. BOTOX ® is a natural, purified protein that relaxes muscles by blocking nerve impulses. Once the muscles are at rest, the skin becomes smoother, creating a more natural and relaxed appearance. Getting on a regular ® treatment plan helps to ensure that you get the best and most consistent results from your BOTOX® injections. BOTOX® treatments generally last between three to six months so that two or three treatments a year are sufficient to maintain a more youthful appearance. The first few times you will probably need to have the injections every three months. After continued injections, some patients find that they may be able to go four to six months between injections. If you discontinue your BOTOX® injections your lines will gradually look like they did before treatment.
